Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
This policy explains what you can't do with Lazybird. It's part of our Terms of Service and applies to the Studio, the API, published voices, share links and anything you generate with them.
Short version: use voices you have permission to use, don't deceive people, and don't break the law.
1. Voice cloning: consent comes first
You may clone a voice only if:
- it's your own voice, or
- you have the speaker's clear, informed permission to clone it and to use it the way you plan to (for example: for this video, for commercial ads, for publishing to the community).
You'll be asked to confirm this before you clone a voice. Keep proof of permission (e.g. a signed release or written message) — we may ask for it if someone complains.
You may not:
- clone someone's voice from recordings you found online, from calls, or recorded without their knowledge, unless they've agreed;
- clone the voice of a child or minor;
- clone the voice of someone who has died without permission from whoever holds the rights to it, where the law gives such rights;
- publish a cloned voice to the community unless you have the right to let other people use it, too.
2. Impersonation and deception
You may not use Lazybird to make people believe that a real person said something they didn't, in a way that could mislead or harm. In particular, don't:
- impersonate someone to get money, information, access or anything else (e.g. fake calls to family members, CEO-fraud voice messages, bypassing voice verification at banks or other services);
- create fake endorsements, testimonials or ads in a real person's or brand's voice;
- create fake news, fake evidence, or fake statements by public figures presented as real;
- create content meant to deceive voters about elections, candidates, voting or referendums, or political content in a real candidate's or official's voice that isn't clearly labeled as synthetic;
- pretend to be Lazybird or anyone acting for us.
Parody, satire, commentary and entertainment using voices that sound like public figures or fictional characters are allowed when it's obvious to a reasonable listener that it isn't really them, the content isn't sexual or defamatory, and you follow the rules of the platform where you post it. When in doubt, label it as AI-generated. Some countries and platforms require that label; following those rules is your responsibility.
3. Sexual and exploitative content
Never use Lazybird for:
- any sexual content involving minors, or content that sexualizes minors in any way;
- sexual or intimate content using a real person's voice without their consent;
- harassment, sextortion or revenge content.
We report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities.
4. Harmful and illegal content
Don't use Lazybird to create or spread content that:
- is illegal where you are or where it's published;
- threatens, harasses, bullies or doxxes anyone;
- promotes violence, terrorism or violent extremism;
- attacks people on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics;
- encourages self-harm or suicide;
- defames anyone;
- gives instructions for weapons capable of mass harm, or helps commit other serious crimes;
- infringes someone's copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights — for example, reading out a whole book you don't have rights to and publishing it;
- is spam, scam robocalls, or unsolicited automated calls or messages where the law requires consent.
5. Abuse of the Services and the API
Don't:
- share, sell or publish API keys, or let others use your account (except team members on a plan that allows it);
- create multiple accounts to get around free limits, bans or pricing;
- get around rate limits, usage limits, payment or security measures;
- scrape, mass-download or systematically copy voices, previews or other content from Lazybird;
- use Lazybird's output or voices to build a dataset for training or improving another voice or AI model, or reverse engineer our models or software;
- probe, scan or attack our systems, or interfere with other users;
- upload malware or anything designed to harm devices or data;
- resell or white-label the Services without our written agreement.
Found a security issue? Report it to support@lazybird.app instead of exploiting it.
6. Reporting misuse
If you think someone is misusing Lazybird — for example, a cloned voice used without permission, a voice that impersonates you, or an abusive shared project — email support@lazybird.app with a link or the voice name and what's wrong. If it's your own voice, tell us; we prioritize these reports.
7. Enforcement
If you break this policy we may, depending on how serious it is:
- remove or unpublish content or voices;
- disable share links;
- restrict features such as voice cloning or publishing;
- suspend or close your account without refund;
- keep records and report illegal activity to the authorities.
We decide what's appropriate case by case. We may also act on content that isn't explicitly listed here if it puts people or Lazybird at risk.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the law and risks change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
